What lands on our servers

• The IP address your connection uses, from which a rough place (region or city) can be inferred.
• The user-agent string: browser name, version and device type.
• Which pages and outbound links were opened, but only when analytics or advertising has been switched on.
• Form data: the name, address and words you put into an email drafted with our contact form, once that email lands in our inbox.

Purposes

Keeping baskgan online and protected from abuse; analytics, meaning headcounts of visits that tell us which parts of the review get read; marketing, meaning referral tags that let a partner credit a booking and, in some cases, show you related offers; and replying to people who write in. Analytics and marketing depend on your consent.

Partners who receive data

The web host, the analytics service, and partner or affiliate networks that need a click reference to match a booking to our link. Nobody pays us for a list of visitors. California treats handing cookie data to ad partners as “sharing”, and that is exactly why the advertising switch starts in the off position.

Retention

Raw access logs are cleared after a few weeks. Analytics figures survive in summary form for no more than 26 months. Emails are deleted a reasonable while after the conversation ends.

GDPR rights

Anyone protected by European or British data rules may obtain what we hold on them, get errors put right, have it erased or restricted, take it elsewhere, and object to how it is used. Consent is withdrawable at any moment, and your national privacy watchdog will hear complaints. We rely on consent for optional cookies and on legitimate interest for security and answering mail.

CCPA/CPRA rights

People living in California can learn which categories of their information we hold, demand deletion or correction, and refuse sale or cross-context sharing. A browser that broadcasts Global Privacy Control is read as that refusal automatically. Making a request never leads to worse service.

Minors

baskgan is written for adult travellers. Under-18s should not send us anything; if a parent finds that a child has, one email to the privacy address gets it erased.
