Who it suits: road-trippers on the I-5 corridor, couples wanting a suite for a weekend, and families who want a pool after a day at the lake.

Pros

  • Right off Interstate 5, so the drive in is simple
  • Real suite choice for couples or small families
  • Pool, hot tub and dining without leaving the property
  • A sensible base for day trips to Shasta, Whiskeytown and Lassen

Cons

  • Not walkable to downtown or the Sundial Bridge; plan on a car
  • No spa menu appears on the resort’s own pages yet; phone first if a massage matters
  • The lively bar side of the resort will not suit guests looking for total quiet

Heads-up on who is talking: Redding Rancheria owns Win-River Resort & Casino and also runs baskgan, so these pages are the owner describing its own resort. Treat them as that, not as an independent review.

Owned by Redding Rancheria, which also publishes this page.

On the property

  • Hotel rooms and suites
  • Outdoor pool and hot tub
  • Fitness room
  • Seasons restaurant
  • Two bars
  • Event and meeting rooms
  • RV park
  • Casino on site

Rooms

Win-River lists a ladder of room types on its hotel page: deluxe king, wide king and queen rooms at the entry end, then a deluxe mini suite, open-bay, junior-bay and double-bay suites, and a Chairman’s Suite at the top. The resort describes the rooms as modern, with large-screen televisions and pod-style coffee makers, and pitches the range at solo travellers, couples and families alike.

Floor plans, views and bed set-ups differ between categories, and the site does not publish square footage. If you need connecting rooms, an accessible layout or a quieter corridor away from the lifts, ask the hotel desk directly before you book.

Pools & spa

There is an outdoor resort pool with a hot tub alongside, plus a fitness room for guests. In a Redding summer the pool is the obvious draw; in the cooler months, ask the hotel which hours and which parts of the pool deck stay open.

Some travel listings mention spa treatments on site. The resort’s own pages do not describe a spa menu at the time of writing, so we do not promise one here: if a massage is part of your plan, ask the hotel when you reserve.

Restaurants & bars

Seasons is the main restaurant, with a menu that rotates through seasonal dishes and local favourites and offers take-out too. It is the place for a sit-down dinner without getting back in the car.

CreekSide Bar opens early and runs late, pouring specialty coffee, smoothies and handcrafted cocktails, and a second lounge bar serves local beer and signature drinks in the evening. Menus and hours change through the year; the resort’s dining pages are the place to check them.

Shows & entertainment

The resort keeps an events calendar of ticketed evenings, and its entertainment pages mention DJ nights and comedy. Seasonal parties, such as an autumn Halloween night, also turn up. Line-ups change every month, so read the calendar for the dates of your stay rather than relying on what is listed today.

For private occasions the event-planning team handles weddings, meetings and banquets, with catering arranged in-house. All meeting rooms are non-smoking, the resort says.

What’s nearby

  • Sundial Bridge and Turtle Bay Exploration Park. Redding’s glass-decked footbridge across the Sacramento River, with the museum, gardens and river trails of Turtle Bay beside it. A short drive north from the resort.
  • Shasta Lake and Shasta Dam. The big reservoir north of town for houseboats, kayaks and lakeside picnics; the dam itself has a visitor area. Ask about tour availability before you go.
  • Whiskeytown. A national recreation area west of Redding with a clear lake, beaches and waterfall hikes.
  • Lassen Volcanic National Park. Hydrothermal basins, volcanic peaks and alpine lakes to the east. The main park road closes under winter snow, so summer and early autumn are the usual window.

How to get there

Drivers have it simplest: the property is a short hop from Interstate 5 on Redding’s southern edge, handy for anyone heading up or down the state. Cars stay in the on-site lots.

By air, Redding Municipal Airport (RDD) is the closest, with a short drive to the resort; ask the hotel whether any transfer or shuttle is offered. Sacramento International (SMF) has many more routes and is a few hours south by road on I-5, so most visitors flying into Sacramento rent a car.

Practical information

Resort fee question
Before paying, ask the desk if an amenity or resort charge sits beside the nightly price, and which extras it pays for.
Parking
On-site parking is available; confirm whether it is included for hotel guests and where oversized vehicles should go. An RV park is also run on the property.
Cancellation policy
Check the deadline and any deposit when you book, especially for packages and suites, which can carry stricter terms.
Best season
Late spring and early autumn are the comfortable months for sightseeing. High summer brings strong valley heat, ideal for the pool and the lake; winter closes the higher roads at Lassen.
Check-in age
Ask the hotel for its minimum check-in age and the ID it accepts. Some areas of the resort are limited to adults 21 and over.

Inside the Turtle Bay grounds, a short stroll from the Sundial Bridge: pick it if you want to walk to the river rather than drive.

  2. Oxford Suites Redding

A suite-based hotel in town that suits a longer stay or a group that wants more room for less fuss.

Questions people ask

Who wrote this review?

Redding Rancheria, the owner of Win-River Resort & Casino. It is the owner’s description of its own resort, not an independent assessment.

Is there somewhere to swim?

Yes. An outdoor pool with a hot tub, plus a fitness room. Ask the hotel about seasonal opening hours.

Is there a spa?

Third-party listings mention treatments, but the official site does not describe a spa menu at present. Ask the hotel before booking around one.

Can I walk to the Sundial Bridge?

Not comfortably. The resort is on the south side of Redding and the bridge is north of downtown, so plan on a short drive.

Which airport should I use?

Redding (RDD) is closest. Sacramento (SMF) has more flights but means a longer drive up Interstate 5.

Can I bring an RV?

The resort runs its own RV park with hook-ups; check-in is at the hotel front desk. Call ahead for availability.

Our method

Facility details were taken from Win-River’s official pages and compared with public travel listings; where the two disagreed, we wrote the safer version and told you to ask the hotel. We give no numbers for prices, fees or room counts, and we publish no guest quotes. Because the publisher owns the resort, read this as an informed brochure with honest caveats.
